About us
The Latvian Midwives Association is the professional association of midwives in Latvia, founded in 1993.
Latvijas Vecmāšu asociācija (LVA) is a non-governmental organisation bringing together midwives from across Latvia. It has been active since 1993 and currently has 253 members.
The association works to support the professional development of midwives, to represent and defend their professional and legal interests, and to strengthen the standing of the midwifery profession in society. It organises conferences and continuing education, and administers the certification and recertification of midwives.
The board
The association is run by a board elected by its members. The current board was elected on 10 May 2025 for a four-year term.
